1. What Is Ookubb

Ookubb ("Platform", "Service", "we", "us", "our") is an independent, student-built social platform. It combines elements of social feeds, community forums (like subreddits), direct messaging, event discovery, and an XP-based promotion system — a multi-format social space, campus-first but globally accessible.

Ookubb is not affiliated with, endorsed by, associated with, or sponsored by Chandigarh University, any other educational institution, the UGC, AICTE, or any government body. The "CU" in our name is informal and carries no institutional affiliation. Any resemblance in name to an institution is incidental.

The Platform is operated by individual students on a personal, non-commercial, best-effort basis with no registered company, no investment backing, and no dedicated infrastructure budget.

2. Acceptance and Eligibility

By using the Platform, you represent and warrant that:

• You are at least 18 years of age, OR between 13–17 with verified parental/guardian consent.
• If you are under 13, you are strictly prohibited from using the Platform. Accounts discovered to belong to users under 13 will be deleted immediately without notice.
• You have the legal capacity to enter a binding agreement under the laws of your country.
• Your use of the Platform does not violate any applicable law in your jurisdiction.
• All registration information you provide is accurate, current, and complete.

We reserve the right to require proof of age or identity at our discretion, and to refuse access to any person at any time for any reason.

3. Accounts and Security

• You may access the Platform via Google Sign-In or as a Guest.
• You are fully responsible for all activity under your account or guest session.
• You must not share credentials or allow others to access your account.
• Guest users: actions taken as a guest (including any content posted) may not be recoverable or deletable, as we cannot verify your identity.
• Notify us immediately at namanaryan002@gmail.com of any suspected unauthorised account access.
• We reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or permanently terminate any account at our sole discretion, at any time, with or without notice, including for violations of these Terms.

4. The XP System

4a. Earning XP

XP earned through platform activity (posts, engagement, community participation, etc.) is awarded at our discretion. We reserve the right to modify XP earning rates, cap amounts, or discontinue earned XP at any time without notice. Earned XP has no monetary value and cannot be converted to cash.

4b. Purchasing XP

• XP purchases are processed via Cashfree Payments, a PCI-DSS compliant Indian payment aggregator.
• All prices are displayed in INR (Indian Rupees) unless otherwise stated. International users may incur additional conversion or transaction fees from their bank — these are entirely outside our control.
• XP is a digital consumable. Once spent on a promotion, it is consumed and the promotion runs as configured.
• We reserve the right to change XP pricing, packages, and value at any time. Changes do not affect already purchased XP.
• XP purchased has no cash value and cannot be transferred between accounts.
• By purchasing XP, you confirm you are authorised to use the payment method provided.

4c. Promotions via XP

• Promotions run for the duration and reach level you select at the time of spending XP.
• We do not guarantee specific reach, impression counts, or outcomes from any promotion. Reach depends on Platform activity and user behaviour, which we cannot control or predict.
• We reserve the right to remove any promoted content that violates these Terms, without refund of the XP spent.
• Promoted content must comply with all content rules in Section 6. Promoting illegal, harmful, or policy-violating content is strictly prohibited.

4d. XP Expiry

Unspent purchased XP does not expire as long as your account is active. If your account is terminated for Terms violations, unspent XP is forfeited with no refund. If your account is deleted at your own request, see our Refund Policy for the refund window on unspent purchased XP.

5. User-Generated Content

5a. Your Responsibility

You are solely and entirely responsible for all content, text, images, links, files, events, or other material you post, share, or transmit on the Platform ("User Content"). We do not endorse, verify, or assume responsibility for any User Content.

By posting User Content, you represent and warrant that you own it or have all necessary rights and licences, and that it does not infringe any third-party rights or violate any law.

5b. Licence Grant

By posting User Content, you grant Ookubb a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable licence to use, store, reproduce, display, modify (for formatting only), and distribute your content solely to operate and improve the Platform. This licence ends when you delete the content, subject to reasonable backup retention.

5c. Prohibited Content

You must not post content that:

• Is defamatory, libellous, or constitutes a personal attack
• Is obscene, pornographic, or sexually explicit
• Contains hate speech based on caste, religion, race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, or disability
• Threatens, harasses, bullies, stalks, or intimidates any person
• Infringes copyright, trademark, patent, or other IP rights — including exam papers, textbooks, or copyrighted study materials
• Contains personal data of others without their clear consent (phone numbers, addresses, private photos, etc.)
• Is spam, unsolicited advertising, pyramid schemes, or MLM content
• Contains malware, phishing links, or harmful code
• Facilitates academic dishonesty, cheating, or impersonation in exams
• Violates any Indian law including but not limited to: IT Act 2000, IPC, POCSO Act, SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, or any applicable law in the user's jurisdiction
• Impersonates any person, institution, or entity
• Promotes, glorifies, or facilitates violence, terrorism, or extremism
• Contains self-harm or suicide content in a harmful manner
• Promotes gambling, illegal substances, or unlicensed financial services

6. Intellectual Property

The Ookubb name, logo, design system, original code, and original content are the property of the Platform operators or licensed to us, and may not be used, copied, or reproduced without express written permission.

We respect IP rights. To submit a copyright or trademark infringement notice, email namanaryan002@gmail.com with subject [IP NOTICE], including: your name and contact details, identification of the infringing content (with URL), identification of the original work you own, and a statement of good faith belief of infringement.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Ookubb and its operators (Naman Aryan, Harsh K. Sharma, Aman) from and against all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

• Your use of the Platform
• Your User Content
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any law or third-party right
• Any claim that your User Content harmed a third party
• Your misuse of the XP or promotion system

11. Mental Health and Crisis Content

Ookubb is a social platform, not a mental health service. We are not equipped to handle mental health emergencies. If you encounter crisis content, report it to us. If you are in crisis:

We accept no liability for harm arising from crisis-related content on the Platform.

12. Platform Changes and Availability

We may modify, suspend, or shut down the Platform at any time, with or without notice. We may modify these Terms at any time — continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We will post changes with an updated date. This is a student project. Do not depend on it for critical needs.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes will first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days of written notice, disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Chandigarh, India.

Users outside India: you agree to submit to Indian jurisdiction for disputes related to this Platform. We make no representation that the Platform or its terms comply with the laws of any jurisdiction outside India.

14. Miscellaneous

• Severability: If any provision is held invalid, the rest remains in force.
• No Waiver: Failure to enforce any right is not a permanent waiver of that right.
• Entire Agreement: These Terms + Privacy Policy + Refund Policy = the full agreement between you and Ookubb.
• Force Majeure: We are not liable for failure due to internet outages, government action, natural disasters, third-party service failures, or any cause beyond our reasonable control.
• No Agency: Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, employment, joint venture, or agency relationship between you and Ookubb.
• Language: This agreement is in English. Any translation is for convenience only. In case of conflict, the English version controls.
